Emmaus is an opportunity for prayer and fellowship in the middle of the busy academic week. It includes Adoration from 5-6pm with Confession available followed by a study break in the Calvert House lounge!
In addition to Emmaus, Calvert House is open for prayer during regular business hours (Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm). If the door is locked, please just ring the doorbell and someone will buzz you in. The Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Adoration Chapel is located in the lower level of Calvert House. Those who have been trained at Calvert as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are permitted to remove the veil which covers the Blessed Sacrament (contact Sam for training at [email protected]). If the Adoration Chapel is occupied, please feel free to pray in the Main Chapel.
“Adoration is the first attitude of man acknowledging that he is a creature before his Creator. It exalts the greatness of the Lord who made us and the almighty power of the Savior who sets us free from evil. Adoration is homage of the spirit to the “King of Glory,” respectful silence in the presence of the “ever greater” God. Adoration of the thrice-holy and sovereign God of love blends with humility and gives assurance to our supplications” (CCC #2628)
